We are very proud and excited to provide our new Scholarship, The Lawson Scholarship 2017. This is only our third year of providing a scholarship to a deserving Christian college student, but we hope to be able to assist young energetic students to pursue their dreams of a college education for many years to come. For the 2017-2018 school year, the William H. Lawson Scholarship Fund will be providing a scholarship of $2,000.00 towards tuition for a young Christian student who wishes to study at the college level at an accredited 4 year university. The scholarship consists of one $2,000 payment, payable to the student’s college as part of the student’s tuition.

Past recipients of the Lawson Scholarship:

Joshua Bowling of Arizona State University won the Lawson Scholarship 2015.

Alyssa Morales of Pepperdine University won the Lawson Scholarship 2016.

Rachel of Westmont College won the Lawson Scholarship 2017.

Please be advised that if you are selected to receive the Lawson Scholarship 2018 that we will post your name, your institute of higher learning and the academic year of your scholarship here on our website. This will only occur if you are awarded the scholarship and if you agree to this condition of the scholarship. Several universities require such information to be posted in order to allow them to monitor the validity of scholarship offers.

Privacy policy – Personal information provided to us in your scholarship application or essay is kept confidential and will only be used in the evaluation of candidates for the scholarship. In order to confirm the information which is submitted, for approximately five finalists which we select as part of the award process, we will be contacting the references provided and the churches, activities, schools and universities listed. We do not “harvest” email addresses, telephone numbers, IP addresses or other information from scholarship applications or from our website visitors in order to sell them to third parties. Our scholarship application forms and online inquiry forms and emails collect some or all of the following personally identifying information: (1) Name, (2) Address, (3) Phone number and/or (4) email addresses. None of this personally-identifying information is stored on our website, and thus we provide no online process for individuals to review and request changes to any of their personally identifiable information. If you wish to correct errors or make changes to information previously sent to us, please feel free to send us another email or to call on the phone to our office. Changes to our Privacy Policy. Most of the above Privacy Policy has been unchanged since our website(s) first went online back in the late 1990’s. In the event that we make changes to or update this Privacy Policy in the future, we will post such changes or updates here on our website without any further notification. We do not anticipate any such changes or updates.

William H. Lawson is a personal injury lawyer who has spent his legal career helping his clients to get their lives back on track after a serious life-changing accident. He has often helped to bring much-needed relief to the victims of auto accidents, defective products, maritime claims, severe falls, and other unexpected personal injuries. Mr. Lawson recognizes that a college education is essential to many fruitful careers serving others and he and his wife, Laurie, wish to assist a student with a heart for service to others.

This scholarship is for a communicator who has the joy and the talent to impact this world for Christ and who is interested in doing exactly that. The winner will be selected from the group of eligible candidates who submit an essay of 500 words or less on a topic of their choosing related to how they wish to use their college education to advance the cause of Christ. We will be looking for fresh and promising ideas about how to get the gospel message out to the world.

Entries will be open until April 15, 2017. An entry should be on no more than two typed 8-1/2 x 11″ pages (which includes the name of the student, a title limited to 10 words and a word limit on the body of the essay of 500 words). An entry should be accompanied by a completed application form available on our website below. Among other things, the entry form requires the name, address, phone number and email address of the submitter, the name of the church which the submitter attends and some general character references. Entries should be (1) submitted in hard copy by U.S. mail or (2) sent in a digital format (ASCII, MS Word or WordPerfect) to the email address: scholarship2017@hilaw.com An entry must be received by April 15, 2017 or it may not be considered.
